About documentary treatments

When writing documentary treatments, how do you prove that you have obtained cooporation from your main characters?

They can write letters of intent (LOI) that become part of the proposal, usually as an appendix.

Do you have anything more formal already in print? Obtaining cooperation can be interpreted several ways. A letter of intent can spell out exactly what they will be doing when cooperating. Is there something you need to provide in exchange for cooperation?

How do you mean? Do you have an example?

I don't have an example as I don't produce documentaries, but specific cooperation could say things like "access and rights to use all photos and video from personal or family collections" or "full cooperation on camera via interviews as well as available for research and networking to other sources."
