Last I checked....Camera A 50 hours, Camera B 30 Hours, Camera C 95 Hours, Camera D I believe had over 100.

How many hours do you think a DVX is capable of operating for before self-destruction? Doesn't the usage readout on the LCD have five digits? If so, that means a DVX is theoretically capable of 99,999 hours, which is equal to it being in continual use for approximately 11.4 years without a break.

Now I might be wrong about the five digits. Let's say it's only 9,999 hours, or four digits.

Total operating time is still generous with 1.14 years before permanent shutdown.

Not quite as sweet as 11 years but I could deal with a $3000 camera giving me over 9000 hours of use before either smoking out or blowing up.

I wanna hear from someone who has seen dvx's with over 500+ hours. Maybe 1000+ hours if they're out there.

p.s. i sold my olympus digital camera on eBay after taking 10,000+ photos with it. it lost only 40% of it's value over the course of those two years and countless photo situations. a "total pictures taken" meter should be added as a standard feature on all digital still cameras across the board, imo.

Cool - lets see who's the first to get their DVX to 9,999 hours. Then someone else with a DVX can film it so we can all watch it explode... ;D

I asked that same question a few weeks ago and someone replied that it only measures hours in which the heads are engaged. Which, I believe means, as long as there's no tape in the deck then your hour meter won't budge.

I guess that means if you rewind far enough, you'll shoot in black and white....a little farther....silent film.....
