A tequila question...

So I bought a pretty nice bottle of tequila last year on my honnymoon. We decided to save it for our anniversary (tonight). Anyway, for tequila connesiuors out there. Can tequila go bad after being un-capped? How long does it last after being open? Just curious.

If interested it's, Casa Noble, Special Reserve. 100% de agave, Anejo. Here's a blurb on it...

Aged in French oak for five years; the brilliant amber tone is impeccably pure and clean; the nose at opening is rich, almost brandy-like, and oaky with time in the glass, the aroma becomes a bouquet as the oak influence is joined by a mild vegetal component and a background pepperiness the third sniffing pass reveals a soft brininess that complements the pillowy oakiness in the fourth and final whiff, the delicate, perfumy scents of oak resin and vanilla, mature agave, and nut butter unite to form an atypically biscuity tequila bouquet while I actually prefer the nose of the reposado, this one is very pleasing and well-structured; the palate entry is mildly sweet and oaky, but then the midpalate stage explodes with firm, meaty tastes of nut butter, pepper, and light caramel; the finish is long, spirity, and elegant; very nice indeed.

I've never heard tequila described like that before. It's good to know that there are tequila connesiuors (sp?) out there... actually I always thought Cabo was pretty good but I never spent more then that on a bottle. The other great thing about Cabo is the bottle handles really well and it's super thick... I find that after finishing a few rounds of Cuervo and needing an impromtu weapon... that the bottom of the bottle often breaks too close to my hand, running the risk of breaking IN my hand while I try to finalize a point with the person sitting next to me at the bar or friend's house.

I will have to investigate that Casa Noble... how many worms do you get? My previous brand had a plastic fork shrink-wrapped to the bottle... but I don't like to eat while I'm drinking so I started getting Cabo.

This bottle took us for about a hundred bucks or so, but I believe you can pick it up for eighty here in the U.S.

Yeah, the tequila thing is kinda cool. I've been tequila tasting in Puerto Vallarta, it was amazing. There's tons of brands, styles and flavors. I'm opening this tonight, I'll know about the worm then.

My roommate's a bartender. He says it should be fine. Some bars open an expensive bottle, and because people don't buy the good stuff very often, it just sits on the shelf. Enjoy.

Liquor doesn't go bad. I recently shared a bottle of 90 proof Jack Daniels with a friend of mine and it was great. Jack hasn't been 90 proof for about 15 years. Enjoy.
