Hello everyone:)

I am looking for what most people use for their settings to get their DVX100 footage to FCP5 to DVDSP4.

I use...when importing to FCP5 from my DVX100 shot on 480P/24PA...the 23.98 and the 23.98 converter option. The look in FCP5 looks good! NOW...when I try to burn a DVD...either using iDVD, or DVDSP4 the DVD looks very pixelated...why?

What do you guys use to burn the BEST quality dvd from the dvx and fcp? and what settings am I missing?

Thanks guys...let the info flow!!! :)

Depends on the length of the video clip. How long is it? Make sure you're encoding 24p MPEG-2 files in Compressor.

What you (and every FCP user) need is the "Compressor Quick-Reference Guide" book. It's only about $23 online and will answer all your questions with authority.

Well lets say the whole project is 30 minutes to an hour.

And do you always have to use compressor to get a good DVD? What about using reference movie burned straight from FCP to DVD studio?

Thanks BenB

Importing a QT move into DVDSP makes DVDSP encode it into the MPEG file in the background while you author. Two problems. First, it will take longer to encode and my cause DVDSP to bog down on occation. Second, you have very limited control over how that file gets encoded with DVDSP, meaning you can't get an optimal quality encode.

You could use BitVice Pro, which encodes faster than Compressor with the same image quality. Draw back is it won't encode DVCPRO-HD nor any 24p footage.

It would take a lot of typing to give you a lesson on how to chose your encoding settings, so get the book I mentioned above. BAM.com has it for something like $23 and really is a must have.

Then one last question BenB...then I will get the book :)

If I use FCP5 and compress it to compressor...then burn with DVDSP4...(figuring I know what I'm doing) the DVD should come out very clean. Is this correct?

And is this the way most people burn DVD's?
