A Sales Agency made me an offer...is this standard?

that's a shame a sales company would try and say it's standard industry practice for the filmmaker to shell out $7,500 for them to market the film basically the same way i would market it if i were to do it myself (festivals, AFM, press releases, etc etc).

also i my be mistaken but i thought sales companies and sales agents take 15% not 20% of the sale? is that not correct?

Crooks are in every industry but probably more scumbags in the media business than any other business.

Even drug dealers have more integrity.

It reminds me of my early acting days. You go in to see an agent about representation
and they "love you". You'd be perfect, they say, for some national commercials that
are coming up... You'll just need to get some professional headshots. Normally these
would cost you over $1,500 but since you'll be signing with us we reduce that price
to $750. Will that be cash or check?

Run. Run like the wind my son.

Bogus casting agencies love to sell actors auditioning classes too. Here's the appropriate, two-step response:

1. Turn around
2. Run

wow sounds like de ja vu, i got a second email similar to that shortly after the initial one talking about how i'm getting triple reduction on marketing costs by paying $7,500 in advanced. :undecided

maybe i will donate my body to science to generate the marketing budget for them or max out all my credit cards. i'm trying to decide what's best in this booming economy.

And you're supposed to feel special while you're giving them money to do their job. Time for the politcially correct repsonse of F* off to get off their mailing list. They are phishing for those who don't take the time to ask the questions.
