Im currently using Vegas 5 I have a amd xp3000 cpu , 1.5 gig of ddr 2100 ram, my c drive is a raptor and my rendering drive is a sata drive but not raptor. To render a 5 minute wm9 file 300k stream it takes 15 minutes . How fast of a cpu would I need so it renders real time.? Thanks

That depends on:

What you're trying to render -- what kind of effects, transitions, etc..

What you're rendering FROM.

What all you've got going on besides the render (virus protection, background apps, anything taking processor capacity).

its a avi,No effects just basic transitions and my editing box is off line , so there is only editing software on it , no virus protection and no apps running the background besides windows

It seems pretty slow for the system you have, though your RAM is a little slow. I'd upgrade there -- PC3300 if you can.
