A really interesting site

Has anyone else run across this site:

http://www.cs.virginia.edu/oracle/star_links.html

I think that they use IMDB for their core data. Just for the hell of it, I plugged in a few names along with my daughter using "Movies" just to see if it worked. I couldn't believe how closesly she was linked to so many different names. So I started trying some that I didn't think would work (people like John Wayne and others who were well before her time) and even these came up with only only two or three people separating them.

Its kinda fun and really surprising. Just goes to prove that in Hollywood, its who you know that matters the most!

I tested it by modifying a listing and confirmed that it does use the IMDB data base. As you point out, it isn't very "graphical" but the speed at which the results come back is very impressive.

Yeah, its amazing how efficient compact machine code can be when optimized for a highly specific task.

Its a fun site to play with regardless of it works.

I haven't found a name yet that it hasn't been able to link, usually in just 3 or 4 steps.

The Oracle says: Christopher Walken has a John Hudson number of 2.

Christopher Walken was in Brainstorm (1983) with Cliff Robertson
Cliff Robertson was in All in a Night's Work (1961) with John Hudson (?)
