Hi!

I'm outputting footage in FCP shot 16:9 at 24p (DVX100b).
I would like to export it as wide (853X480).
It is meant to be digitally projected and viewed on a dvdplayer/tv set.

should I export as Interlaced or Progressive?
(should it be progressive because it was shot a24p?)

Thanks,
Liron.

24p normal is interlaced lower field You edit in a 60i timeline. Advanced would be progressive. If you are playing it on a DVD player then you have to conform to DVD standards which is 720x480 either .9 PAR or 1.2 PAR.

In your case, you should try to attempt for a progressive encoding, You can remove the 3:2 pulldown on 24P footage and turn it into 24P in mpeg-2. This removal process is called Inverse Telecine or IVTC.

In Premiere Pro, the pulldown is handled automatically. You'll need to ask an FCP guru on how to handle 24P pulldown from a DVX100.
