So, with a 35 mm adapter, what mode do you people shoot in? NORM?? Letterbox?? I have a feeling it's norm, but first want to check to make sure.

now i shoot norm, cause i learned how to use the cropping function on Vegas, and my whole life changed....

i used to shoot squeeze though. It worked Very well.

you get more options. using squeeze, youre only reading the 16:9 shaped center patch of the 4:3, and thats all you get. lets say for example, youre shooting in squeeze and your actor moves out of the shot slightly, youre screwed.

but if you were shooting 4:3, you can just move the frame up alittel with a subtle "pan" in post, and keep them in frame. saving the shot.

i learned this trick from JAck Daniel Stanley....

Shooting normal is a great option since you retain the entire image. Then in post you can crop to any apsect ratio you would like. You are also able to adjust the pan up or down in post in case you didn't frame correctly while filming.

Before you even start, you should know what aspect ratio your final version will be. Knowing that you can then place indicators on (tape off) your monitor/lcd marking the final frame size. Then when you film you can see where the frame would be, even though you are capturing 4:3.
