A Question About 4X4 Filters

I purchased a matte box and I am trying to decide on a basic set of filters to start with.
Schneider has a starter set with a Polarizer, a Black Frost 1/2 and a ND .9 for $350.
My question is on the ND. Given that the camera has a couple of ND filters built in and the fact that you frequently use the camera nearly wide open anyways, is the ND filter worth having?

If you frequently use the camera wide open then the ND filter is definetely worth having :)

Also consider getting a gradient ND for better skies.

I got schneider's tru pol circular polarizer and a set of ND's. The built in ND is digital and also doesn't provide very much control. It's always preferrable to use optical ND's of when you can and having a set of ND glass gives you much more control over the exposure of your image as you try to get an expsoure at the sweet spot. In midday, I find myself using both a 9 and a 6 to get the iris open and often that isn't even enough. Since it can get pretty expensive, you should probably start with a .3 to supplement the built in ND and add more as you go.

I believe the ND filters on the DVX and HVX are optical. You can feel them sliding into place.

But yeah I just got my mattebox and want to know what filters are must haves. I am alos looking at Schnieders.
