A Problem will 6.5

I shot some footage on a DVX100a at 24fps and I'm trying to edit it in premiere 6.5 but when I put it in the timeline and view it in the monitor it's very choppy. I tried to change the setting for FPS but it doesn't seem to have the ability to 24fps. Is there any help you all could give me ? Thank you.

6.5 won't treat 24p as 24p... only 60i. But that shouldn't matter. You should be able capture and edit and output to DVD or MiniDV without any choppiness. Your problem isn't the footage, it sounds like hardware.
