Just wanted to get an idea of who's using Tiger (Mac OS 10.4.x) or who's using Panter (Mac OS 10.3.x) still. Trying to get an idea from people who use it everyday if they feal it's a worthy upgrade for the type of work we do, i.e. make things faster. I use a PowerMac Dual G5 2.0, 1.5 GB's RAM, FCP, AE, Shake, etc...

I voted that I'm still using Panther....but.....that's on my G5. On my Powerbook G4 I'm using Tiger because that's what it came with. I love Panther and just can't bring myself to upgrade my G5

I upgraded to run the newest version of FCP. I'm happy with it.
Yes.....that's my biggest dilema. I really should upgrade my G5 to Tiger because right now I'm running FCP 4.5 on it and my upgraded FCP Studio on my Powerbook which is only a G4......duh! I've got it backwards. It's just that my G5 is running so smoothly and problem free that I hate to touch it.....superstitious?....maybe.

I haven't had a single problem with Tiger. Plus it's got super duper widgets! ;)

I'm running 10.4.6 and just about every program that apple makes including Shake and Logic Pro 7.1 and Maya 6.5 without any problems at all. I have about 20 gigs of apps and I am running 5.5 gigs of ram. I have my os and apps on a 2 drive array of 2 160gig drives for a little more speed on a dual 2.0 G5 with a X800xt video card and all seems to be fine. Lots of ram rules!

I love tiger. Spot light is an app sent from god

Totally. I'm still running panther on my G4 powermac, but I just decided to go ahead and upgrade to tiger on my G5. I jumped in kinda late though so I never had any problems. It's nice :)

Have you guys that upgraded to Tiger noticed an increase in speed over Panther?
I have not really noticed any significant difference in speed (I'm on a 1.6GHz single processor G5), however, I have noticed a qualitiative improvement in terms of the stability of Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro, I guess that's been from the various Pro Apps Updates. But for me, so far, the best part about Tiger has been the Oblique Strategies widget, this has had the greatest impact on my work of anything new in Tiger (not really new in Tiger, but access to the Widget...).

I just upgraded to Tiger a couple of months ago. The differences are subtle, but my single 1.8 G5 seems to be running quite well. I really dig Spotlight and the Widgets are pretty cool.

I have an older Quicksilver G4 that I have Protools TDM and FCP on. If I upgrade my quicktime- I loose the use of Protools. I'm stuck in a quandry until I get money to buy an Intel Mac. Then I'll let my Intel Mac run FCP and various video programs, which sits next to my G4 running Protools and audio stuff, which will sit next to my 9500 Power Mac running an old version of Cubase.

Pretty soon I'll have my own museum.

I've got a G4 running FCP 4.5 & I use Panther.

Should I upgrade to Tiger? I mean, would things run a little smoother if I use Tiger?

im feeling the protools pain. it is tough to keep up with the updates when you have protools running on your main machine. it took me forever to upgrade to tiger because protools was so far behind. sometimes i just want to be rid of it.. tough one.
