A new $$ contest!

An idea for it:

A really fast paced, shaky cam (bourne supremacy) style bank robbery. One guy opens a bag of money up, only to find a paint bomb has exploded all over his face (he then abandons the mission). It then goes to another bank, where he's wearing the non-duckbill mask, and the paint explodes again. He takes off the mask to reveal the paint on the inside, and grimmaces. Cut to another bank where he opens the bag, and the paint explodes all over his Duckbill. There's nothing on the inside when he reveals it, and smiles. Just when he's admiring the work, the cops come in and tell him to freeze. He's taken away in a police car, still smiling and admiring the duckbill. The brand name comes up, with the line: "It keeps the paint out, but it doesn't keep you out of trouble" under it. END.

I am... really, really bored today.

Apparently they don't want that kind of stuff... they want some sort of real-world test that looks more like home video than a high-concept commercial.

Still, looks like a way to get a free paint sprayer if nothing else ($100 budget provided by them)

Well, looks like I just pointed out the fact that I didn't read the contest rules.

Just looked at the money prizes.

Regardless, I'd rather see your idea than anything remotely resembling the sample video they have up!

This seems a lot more like an RFP(roduction) than a creative contest for filmmakers. They're telling you exactly what they want to see to move this product. I've read through their instructions twice and I'm still having a hard time reading where creativity is desired.

Exactly, they want an edgy crazy viral marketing tool that will knock peoples socks of so much that you will forward it to your friends, in addition it has to look real, like some random video of real events that often gets posted here. But at the same time they want their stupid comparison between the two products and it has to be exactly like the one on their video, only less lame. They are claiming that they want something new and interesting but are firmly holding the reigns.

I’ve got a couple of ideas for this but it dosnt quite fit into their framework so I probably won’t bother.

On the other hand you get a free paint gun for doing it.

See, that's the part I didn't read. My version was less lame, but not exact.

Maybe someone should mockingly make one for the paint gun. Add the ever cliched and overused for a joke (but I'm still doing it due to a lack of a creative bone in my body) "extreme" edge to it. Get two punk rocker looking dudes with paintguns spray each other in the face while yelling "EXTREME!!!!!!!" going down a mountain on snow-mobiles. Then have them take off the masks, look at the paint on the inside, and exclaim "NOT EXTREME! I don't want to inhale paint! I want my mask to keep the paint on the outside... to the EXTREME!" Enter an extreme duck like on those old Bubbleyum commercials (

) waddling in (extremely) holding duck bills in it's extreme mouth. They proceed to do it again, and take off the masks, to which they are happy that the masks have met their extreme requirements. Then put the logo on and say "DUCKBILLZ: Keeps Paint out to the Extreme"

Once again, really, really bored.

That was kinda similar to my idea, to get a bunch of guys playing paint ball but useing paint spayers instead, jumping over rocks, diveing and rolling etc, with rock music, but one team is wearing regular masks and the other is wearing duckbills masks and at the end the duckbills guys are fine and the other guys are freaking out cause the paint got through their masks, or better yet, they are all dead from paint inhalation. Your idea is more awsome/extream though, cause I forgot to have my guys all shout 'extreme!' while they were doing it.

But I think both our ideas probably won't fly with them because they want you to show that both masks got exactly the same amount of spay time and no fakeing.

I think their idea of extreme is to put the masks on a couple of jack-o-lanterns and have snowboarders or hotties spray the paint, while guitar chords play in the background.
