A Little Upset With B&H Right Now...

Thank you, Tim. We're not perfect and I cannot unspill the milk but I can certainly try to make sure you know we care and that we're not a hit-n-run operation. I too have no idea who sent the email and I hope my earlier message was not misconstrued to suggest that I suspected you. I did not and do not. If I was imprecise I am sorry.

Not at all - I just wanted to make sure you knew it wasn't me. :)

Happy ending :)

Don't ya just love happy endings!

Have used BH in the past but not in awhile. They are typically the most expensive when it comes to buying gear.

Huh? Really? Their prices have always been fair by my standards.

EDIT: Henry, do what you can to step up shipment on my tripod bag.

Glad things worked out. At my day job, we do a lot of shipping with OOPS, I mean UPS. And I can vouch that they are not the most reliable about their "time estimates" and meeting them. I know several times they have done something that causes the package to be delayed, yet they blame the sender (us) in their tracking.

But +1 to Henry/ B&H for getting on this. Not many companies would do this on a forum openly. Shows honesty and openness. Now if they only sold prop weapons............

I've seen Henry on other forums, he's a stand-up guy, very responsive and proactive.
I emailed him once when a salesperson went above and beyond in helping me- it's good to let businesses know when the positive happens, not just the negative.

I'm well into 5 figures of gear from B&H, no problems yet... (did I just jinx myself?)

I don't mean to minimize your anxiety or whatever, but I dealt with something worse using Canada post. I paid $40 to send a windscreen overnight. Sent it via COD. Not only did they fail to ship it overnight, but they just left it in the guys mailbox. It took a month to get my shipping cost back. Fortunately the purchaser emailed me funds after the fiasco.

YMMV. Fair yes, but I've always managed to find things a little cheaper elsewhere. Just my experience. Amazon has been very good for finding some of the best deals out there. It doesn't sound like much, but when you pick up a lot of accessories the free shipping does help.

It *really* depends upon just what you're buying, and exactly when.

Which is probably true of most if not all vendors.

Change of topic slightly, Henry thank you for taking the time to be on our forums and helping our members.

Kudo's to Henry and another humble +1 for B&H.

I too have always found their pricing to be fair. Yes you can sometimes beat them by maybe a percent or two if you scour the internet zealously, and very very occasionally they'll be totally off (they are dealing with more than a few items - typo's do happen) BUT.

I have found this (A/V) marketplace to be especially rife with charlatans and outright scum - many with big names and fancy addresses. Screaming deals often leave you the one doing the screaming. The simple peace of mind of dealing with a reputable firm usually wins my order.

Henry - Hats off to you for caring enough.

I'd also like to second groveChuck's point about recognizing superior service. An unsolicited testimonial from a customer can be that butterfly's wing to the career of someone deserving.

I have always had a positive experience when buying from B&H online. Good prices and quick shipping. As for going to the store... depends upon who you have "helping" you. Kudos to Henry.

thanks for the responses henry.

i know it's unrelated, but i do have a quick product suggestion i figured i would throw out there since i don't really know who to ask about it. have you guys ever considered selling baader planetarium eyepieces for telescopes? looking on the internet, the baader hyperions are hard to find in stock for the more popular sizes. for some stores, the wait can literally be months. it would be nice not having to wait and just cruise over to b&h to order. :cheesy:

No. Jinxes only exist in the imaginations of those looking for jinxes.
I may have been asking if I was, but I was looking to not be...

And for people who jinx themselves by imagining them.

...and imagining I wasn't!

I guess I'm partial due to my proximity to NYC. The tripod bag in question actually showed up a day early.

Like you said, MMV, but I'd rather stick with tried & true than root out a good deal.
