A little OT... Mac won't recognize Microsoft wireless mouse

Just got a Microsoft 2000 Optical Wireless USB mouse and my Mac running OS 10.5.5 won't recognize it at all. Anyone have any suggestions? Definitely not the USB port on the Mac. Fresh batteries in the mouse.

Have you tried all of the USB ports? Some of the older Macs had One USB 2 port, and one that was NOT. Just a thought.
