I have a premo Apple Pro Res 422 HQ rendition of my video that meets my highest standards....

I sent it to the compressor with DVD 90 Min best settings

Estimated file size: 2.94 GB/hour of source
Type: MPEG-2 video elementary stream
Usage:SD DVD
Video Encoder
Format: M2V
Width and Height: Automatic
Selected: 720 x 480
Pixel aspect ratio: NTSC CCIR 601/DV (16:9)

Frame rate: (100% of source)
Selected: 29.97
Frame Controls: Automatically selected: Off
Start timecode from source
Aspect ratio: Automatic
Selected 16:9
Field dominance: Automatic:
Selected Progressive
Average data rate: 6.7 (Mbps)
2 Pass VBR enabled
Maximum data rate: 8 (Mbps)
High quality
Best motion estimation
Closed GOP Size: 15, Structure: IBBP
DVD Studio Pro meta-data enabled

I put it through DVD Studio Pro

When I play it there is a noticeably pulsating semi pixelated two minute section right in the middle it that drives me nuts.

Is there something I am missing, or adding, that may be the cause?
Thanks
A.

i see that you are exporting progressive... did you shoot it and master it to prores as interlaced?

you could export a few seconds of the bad area, then post it online, so that people could see the problem first-hand.

What your describing sounds like an issue with the matrix based on a lower bitrate (6.2mbps) Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this in Apple Compressor since You cant adjust the Matrix settings.

I'm not even sure if the latest version of Apple Compressor has scene detection. That alone can cause lots of mpeg-2 compression artificats with fast moving scenes, or any fast cuts.
