a little confused about DV size

Hi,
I'm using a DVX100B with FCP6

I shoot in normal mode (not LB or SQZ) and 24PA, I presume this is 720x480

I capture and edit, but when I export a QT movie and play it back, my info box in QT says it is 740x480 but it looks better when I select conform aperture (Clean) in the properties/presentation box.

The 740x480 looks fattening (stretched out), the 640 looks perfect.

Am I doing something wrong or this how it's suppposed to be?

BTW:
This footage will eventually goto NTSC DVD & the web.

On a computer, 640 x 480 will be correct because of the pixel aspect ratio. Your computer pixels are square and DV pixels are .909 (for full screen) or 1.21 (for widescreen).
