A-List Salary Secrets

That article isn't quite accurate. The actor is not paying taxes on the gross amount ($12.5 million), he's paying taxes on the net amount that actually goes to him, which is just less than $8 million, if this is to be believed.

One of the largest chunks aside from taxes is the 15% that his "manager or attorney might take." Even if that is true, it still leaves the actor with approximately $3.75 million after taxes, which is 30% of the gross amount. And that's not bad when you are paying so many people to do your business (and your cooking, and your shopping, etc) for you.

Downey is sure to hit the 38% tax bracket for the Feds, but I have no idea where he files for state. That makes a huge difference as well. But I find it hard to believe that his tax attorney doesn't itemize and get plenty of deductions.
