A list of GREAT locations in LA or OC

Hi there,
Has anyone on this board ever had experience with shooting on an actual studio lot? Are there any special prices or programs for student or independent filmmakers to use the lots? Are there any good locations to shoot at in LA or OC? Any suggestions would be great.

Not sure about the studios - I can ask around tomorrow. As far as good locations in LA and OC, it would all depend on what you are shooting.

Nothing in particular, I just wanted to get to know the ideal places to shoot in LA and OC. I want to see if there are any lists out there of cheap and free places to shoot. Any ideas?
 
There are *lots* of smaller stage facilities all over town.

So far as locations go, the question is so broad as to have no meaningful answer.
 
By far the best resource that I have ever found for location scouting in California is:

I use this resource more often than any other single tool. It offers sorting on many different criteria including type of location, area within California, period look, amenities, etc.
 
So by "locations" you actually just mean stages? If so, I'd recommend Quixote. They're very reasonable over there if you talk to them.
