Anyone know where to find a list of 16mm Film camera lenses? I am trying to find reviews or demos or something explaining the different kinds out there, but having trouble.

I was wondering if anyone here might know of some good websites?

Thanks.

Might help narrow things down if you told us what camera or mount you were looking for, as there were many 16mm cameras made over the years.

Thinking of getting a BM pocket cam when they finally get released, but would like to start searching for good 16mm glass in the mean time.

I know the Canon 8-64mm T2.4 was used in the Hurt Locker, so i have been looking at zooms in that range. Just dont know many others :P

Well, the BMC pocket camera has a sensor that is Super 16mm sized. Regular 16mm (Also called Standard 16mm or Academy Aperture 16mm) lens will probably not cover the full sensor size at the wider focal lenses and you will end up with vignetting. Super 16mm was only just introduced in the early 1970s and was never a consumer medium. It was specifically designed for blow up to 35mm film, especially in Europe where the standard cinema wide screen ratio of 1.66:1 was used. Lenses designed for the format were all designed for professional use and from what I have been seeing, they are still commanding premium prices in the used market. I did see a listing for the Canon 8-64mm T2.4 lens that sold on eBay for 1400 pounds, so that is not too bad. I looked on eBay now and I did not see any listing for one those Canon lenses right now. I did see a set of PL mount S16 Zeiss Super Speed primes, 5 lenses, for $10, 000.00. Buying cinema Super 16mm lenses is going to be an expensive proposition I am afraid. I have been thinking about getting the BMC Pocket camera. I mean it is so inexpensive I really can come up with an excuse not to get one. From what I can figure, lens wise, I am going to start with a Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm f/2.8 Asph. Lens for Micro 4/3. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/865111-REG/Panasonic_H_HS12035_Lumix_G_X_Vario.html I figure that zoom range would be roughly equivalent to about 25mm to 70mm on a Super 35mm/APS-C sensor, which is just fine for me as I will probably be using this camera mostly for hand holding run and gun life style documentation stuff. There are some wider and longer Micro 4/3 lenses out there if needed but I really don't see me investing in a lot of that glass.

Here is a photo showing the difference between Standard 16mm and Super 16mm
