A kind of film look

Boy, that hosting site is REALLY irritating.

Well, I don't know about film look, it looked like any other magic bullet footage to me. And the auto-exposure is a dead give-away for video.

On the plus side, great location.

Yeah, cool location, but I would echo what the others have said, looks like magic bullet footage and the auto-exposure is brutal.

No, I didn't use Magic Bullet. Would you tell me more about auto-exposure? What do you mean exactly? I would appreciate any suggestion and opinion.

Damn, rapidshare. It's like the Fort Knox of hosting solutions.

I wouldn't call this a filmlook, and I wouldn't call MTV a filmlook either. Autofocus was killing me. I was squinting for focus.

If you want to develop a filmlook, pick a film, and try and match the color timing to it. On top of that choose location, make sure you don't use autofocus, and hopefully use a cam that shoots 24P.

And don't forget the most underappreciated filmlook, story.

EDIT: Too much quick zooming and it looks out of focus. Maybe everyone's mistaking out of focus for autofocus?

Your the only one that said autofocus. We were saying auto exposure.

MTV has snappy editing. When their establishing a location, they do quick smooth zooms and pans focusing on unique characteristics of the place, try doing this along with some gimicky transitions, and you've got the MTV look.

Also, a tripod wouldn't hurt either...

producer - Auto-exposure is when internal electronics of the camera are used to evaluate the brightness of the picture based on, depending on the settings, the whole picture or a certain area of the picture. So that, say, if you have auto-exposure on, and you are shooting from the window of a room and then pan to the inside of the room, the camera will try to bring up the overall brightness of the shot by increasing the aperture and *sigh* gain.
Which will produce the nice juicy artifacts. To get a good taste of such beautiful imagery, light a room with a single candle and boost the gain up as much as you can.
No, kidding, don't try that at home. Or, even more importantly, don't show it to anyone, especially film related. They may fall into a coma.

I don't know what I'm supposed to be commenting on, but the focus thing was bad, there weren't any cuts, just one transition, and the color correction looked off.

It was really shaky and looked like Ronald McDonald's family vacation footage.

Hey, people, I told you: don't look at the quality or movement! This is just a raw preview. Nobody realized the picture. No Magic Bullet. Even the focus is not out of. Just a special look created - with more than one track cloned and separately processed, with custom settings of glow, and color correction. That's at all. I tried to get some non-ordinary look like a special dream look. I am sure that everybody has seen a videoclip with similar look... Anyway.
And, this is in United Arab Emirates /Dubai/ last year. If you've never been there, GO!!! It is worth!
