A how to question here, please help

When a video clip in the timeline suddenly goes off line (media off line), what's the process that I should follow in recovering the file?

I didn't delete, move or modify anything. This just suddenly happened.

When working with a lot of clips in one single folder/capture scratch (2,000+) I've sometimes encountered this. So at that point I just use the reconnect media command and it fixes itself usually. If it keeps sticking and not wanting to reconnect, then I'll break up the capture scratch into sub-folders and reconnect all the moved media.

Also, if its one single clip that just seems determined to not reconnect (at least everytime you open the project after having reconnected it previously) then I would recommend simply re-digitizing the one clip. I've had that happen with 1 or 2 in 10,000 clips on the current project. I just redigitized and moved stuff to smaller broken down folders/capture scratches and then things seemed to be okay.
