I just watched 'A History of Violence' a few nights ago and was completely immersed in the movie until the end... which i thought abrupt and too vague. While i understand sometimes endings like that are supposed to be vague... i don't like not knowing what the director/writer wanted it to mean! what does everyone think?

Redemption, insight (Syd Field) from the assumption of a value that the character never had: his family = (but as) intimacy (peaceful transparency with himself).

Alas, on this one I felt very much: if you saw the trailer you saw the movie condensed to 2m30secs. I enjoyed it at 2m30secs. I was bored silly at 90+ minutes.
