A Great Question

In 10,15, or 20 years when "HD" (720,1080) Is the Standard, will it be called SD, And the next latest and greatest 4080P will be HD?
Or will it stay known as HD, and the next latest and greatest will be SuperHD or somthing cheesy like that?

I'm pretty sure that the names will always keep evolving.

The same way that "Oldies" will always be 50s-60s-70s music.

but who knows...

It'll keep evolving; Sony's already trying to promote 1080i as "Full HD" (implying, of course, that 720p isn't!) and then there's already been talk of UHD (ultra high definition) and it'll probably continue until someone develops ID (short for InfiniD)...

Oh well, is it really necessary for us to have more than 1920x1080p on our televisions? I'd say it's more than enough.

Never say never; a lot of people don't see anything wrong with standard-def TV.

Heck, a lot of people don't see what's wrong with buying a 16:9 TV, and viewing 4:3 footage on it, and S T R E T C H I N G the image so that it hides "those black bars on the sides"... <sigh>

But it'll probably be a long time before we see anything higher than 1080p being broadcast; the broadcasters have just choked down the bill for converting to supporting HD broadcasts, I doubt they'll be in any rush to go through all that again any time soon... :)

skip holographic, it will be like those old Virtual reality games with the big headset but no headset, we'll just beam broadcasting to our visual implants. I can see it now, you pay your $30 for a movie ticket and then sit in a pitch black room with 100 other people staring at nothing!

I would bet you are right. I didn't start in B&W TV but when I did start the vtrs where the size of two fridges and needed compressed air to operate. At the rate of progress this technology or something as truly amazing will surely be around in 20 years... Damn, I wanna live forever.
