a good sound recording software for Mac

[mts4243369]

Hey there, I just switched from a PC to Mac, and I had a program called total recorder for the PC. Does anyone know of anything equivilant? if you don't know of total recorder, it is a program that baasically records what ever is streaming through your sound card, i.e. if you are just listening to a song whether or not it is off the internet you can record it as a sound file.

PLEASE HELP!
thanks

The product you want is called Boom Recorder (I don't know total recorder). Do a search here for BoomRecorder, Boom Recorder and BR, and you will find lots and lots of details on this product.

I think what you're looking for is something like Audio Hijack (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/). This is just to record things off your system. Boom Recorder is a fantastic piece of software to record sound from an interface that you plug your mics into.

All newer macs have Garage Band - have you tried it (guitar icon at bottom) ? If you simply need to record sound, it works great - has all kinds of audio controls, and the newest version is even better. Musicians everywhere use it.
