A good laptop for hvx?

I mostly edit with avid on a pc-but could switch to MacBook Pro and FCP-I'm open! Please submit any suggestions of laptops that may perform well with the hvx. :dankk2:

I'm waiting to get the Macbook, especially since there isn't a PCMCIA slot currently. I've also been advised by a friend who has a friend who works for apple in Cupertino(sp) that the next series of laptops will be the ones to get. I also hope that the 12" will be workable. It's also great that you'll be able to get a mac laptop that's as fast as any PC out there... but with more reliability, funcitionality, and style!

Another option would be those new micro computers that are out. They are like 7" laptops.. Man, a small laptop could offer all kinds of options... I forgot the model number/brand but should be easy enoguh to find. I think it has a three letter acronym for the type of laptop it is...

Not sure if I helped ya there, but it's always good to chime in on someone spending some cash... Another viable option would save you a bunch of money.. and that would be to buy a used 1ghz or faster G4 laptop with a superdrive. I've seen them on Ebay for as little as 800-1100. I've used them.. they work fine and will for sometime to come.

The old 15" apple Powerbook G4 has a PCMCIA slot and you can edit with FCP, if you want/need only an offload option go PC, like the Benq Joybook S52 13" 80 Gb or Sony Vaio 11" or Fujitsu Lifebook P7120 11" The last two are lightweight and have good batterie time, the Benq is not expensive. check it out.

I'm mostly a mac guy, some pc stuff but I prefer macs and FCP. Having said that , check out oqo.com, I think that is what justyn is talking about.... very cool ! I wonder if it would work with andromeda ?
