A glowing orb light in actors hand.

Yes, I'm aware of After Effects. Just really like to try something more. In LOTR they had a small light stuck to Gandalf's staff in Moria and amped this light source in post.

Night scene, very dark, ambient tungsten moonlight. Will probably just throw out some cold LEDs & go pretty high ISO for a natural, milky look. A moth (magic one) appears in the dark, landing onto the actors hand. As it lits up so does the actors face.

I'd REALLY like to come up with something that is not just digital...

Anyone know of any glowing balls? :) I'm thinking, maybe some gel toy... there's these BB gun ammo that glows in the dark pretty cool... obviously too small & too dim, but the tech... maybe something like that, crank up the ASA 1600 on the 5N (really, it looks beautiful!) and maybe could get this stuff to work. Or at least give it a try. You guys have any practical ideas?

edit: Uhm well... guess I could just have a LED dimmer *under* the hand just out of frame... but still! GLOWING BALLS! So worth a try.
