A fun new wedding intro

Great work! I don't use AE but I'm guessing that took quite a while to put together. I'm curious- do you do a lot of weddings, and if so, do all of them get this treatment?

I've done 7 weddings so far, and the last 3 have this treatment. It's cool because now that all the hard work is done, I can use this as a template for future weddings. It took about 20 hours (probably half that if I had a nice computer). It looks so amazing on a regular TV, it just blows them away every time and sets the tone for the rest of the video.

The two previous ones to this have a different style intro which can be seen here:

Looks good man. Hey did you just watch his video or does he have training videos or just regular videos. I didn't see any tutorials.

thanks
Josh

he doesn't have tutorials, i just watched certain things and tried to figure out how he did them, and then put my own spin on it. It's nice because he has them as quicktime files so you can scroll through stuff frame by frame to see how everything develops...sometimes things in AE can go a little fast. I'm still a noob when it comes to all AE has to offer, check this site out....

www.mograph.net = blows my mind

I remember reading the post when he posted the Xtreme paintball opening. I can definitely see how you were influenced by his work. It looks pretty sweet awesome!

I really loved the intros and the music. It creates that tone or mood for the entire thing. Stuff like your intros I find on these forums definitely gives me great inspiration

Great work! Really like all the intros you've posted....Do you do each intro in one comp? A lot of great camera movements...Reminds me of Bam's unholy union intro....Keep it up!

Looks good, especially for a wedding intro. A crit I have is, from a design standpoint, the blue arrows that circle the bride and groom don't feel right. I think it's mostly it's the color, which doesn't really flow with the pallette of the rest of the video. I think if you went with the white like you did on the 57 Chevy (which was a nice touch) it would gel a bit more.

Also, at the end, I'm sure this is because I don't know this, but the blue building takes the focus of that shot instead of the wedding party in front of it. I'm assuming it has some significance because you zoom in on it.

And yes, mograph.net rocks, that site has really pushed me to up my game and there are some great talents on there that are very knowledgable.

thats a really cool intro but what does the actual full length product look like - do you do the filming for it?

ya i'm kinda mad at myself for using that greenish color on the arrows, white would have worked or even a blue like on the chevy. ah well, next time! oh, and the building doesn't have any significance other than i thought it looked cool and it made a nice place to put the girls on a balcony. it looks way different on a tv, so it's not too distracting.

thanks for the critique tho i really appreciate it. i'm always trying to get better with designs, it doesn't come easy for me.

actually i do film the entire wedding...and it's all crap....

just kidding, i fully edit the rest of it...

-it has an mtv beat to it with songs that bride and groom choose.
-the dvd is about 1 hr 15 minutes long.
-most of all i try to make it NOT boring, so that it would be entertaining for anyone to watch, not just the couple who it's made for. Of course the ceremony is a ceremony, so there's only so much you can do, but for the rest of it I keep it interesting.
-i shoot 24p, gotta utilize the DVX's most powerful strength! (some wedding shooters i've worked with use dvx's in 60i...i'm like "whaaat?")
-finally, i package it in a nice jewel case (www.jewelboxing.com) with custom graphics and all the bells and whistles. i always get a few full rez photos from the photographer for the cover art so it looks nice when i print it out.

and as for the bride and groom, they love it and are totally stoked! :)

I think it looks great!

I've been thinkering around with some of the same type of stuff....but since I'm a noob with no creativity...it's certainly lacking.

I agree w/ you about the 24p thing. The only wedding I shot was for a friend of mine and shooting + producing DVD was my wedding gift...I was skeptical about shooting in 24p since I had never done so....but was totally satisfied and no looking back.

Funny you said something about MTV....when I watched it, the sound was off (at work)...and I couldn't help but think it looked like it came from an intro of "The Real World" or "The Surreal Life (VH1)"....which I'm guessing is the look you were going for?

Andrew Kramer has good tutorials for AE, including the use of its 3D space....but it looks like you pretty much have that down.

Kudos.
