For that one, I used a vivitar 283 flash with some diffusion and also a blackwrap snoot. I set the camera on self time, with a 1 second shutter, so when the shutter went I had time to pop the flash manually. I was hand holding the flash above my head. This is because I lack a radioslave setup.

Any one have any more critique? It's the only way to improve.

Nothing eh? Maybe next time I will just say I shot them with a D70 and put them in the D70 thread, seems to be plenty of action there. Either that or these photos are absolutely perfect and no one has any crits. Which I KNOW is not the case....

Hard to say, out of context. I've never personally been a big fan of the rabbit-in-the-headlights style of photography, but these are pretty nice. If I had to critique, I'd say your focus is a little shallow in the first one, I'd lose the white streak on the far right side of the 2nd one, the 3rd is my least favorite for reasons I can't really articulate, the 4th is a cool concept but needs much better control to retain detail on your human subject, and the 5th is pretty excellent but I wish that shadow coming off his hat was a little more under wraps.

But that's just if I had to. Nice shots. :)

Cool, thanks alot. I'm trying to figure out what that streak is, and I think it was some sort of moving light, I used a 1 second shutter on that one, so the light was moving. I agree about the shadow on the 5th, and also I wish that my rim light wasn't so hot on the hat and side of his face. Always progressing! Thanks for the words.

I'm not crazy about the first one, but I'm not sure why... maybe it's just lacking in interest (to me). But I REALLY like the rest of them... very nice! You're obviously very creative. The 2nd and 3rd are my favorites. While I prefer the colors of the 2nd, I think the model's expression sells the 3rd one. The 4th one is also really cool, but her face is a little washed out.

Overall... excellent work in my opinion.

Thanks! I should also say that these were shot with a Canon 10D in RAW mode, cropped and color corrected in post, and shot with these lenses:

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8
Tamrom 19-35mm f/3.5
