A bit irritating...grrrr....

I've been using Vegas 7 for years now and never had any issues until this project. Every time I try to render, I keep getting an error message after an hour or two that says there's an error and that the reason for the error could not be determined. I've restarted the computer, tried different codecs and file outputs, but to no avail. The error appears in a different spot each time, but always within the first five minutes of the actual film. I have a few effects, but it's never been a problem before. Any ideas?

To get help...you will need to post more info than that. Like what render setings are you using stuff like that.

I just realized that I've been using 7.0a. I'm downloading the 7.0e right now. Maybe that'll help. If I still have the issue, I'll post the settings I'm using

Just for the heck of it...
I'm rendering into mpg2 using the default DVD Arch NTSC Widescreen template. It's the same one I've used for a few years. All the settings are default.

Thanks, I'll try that. I also just read about someone that had a similar problem. They had a corrupt file in the media pool and that was causing the issue. I've removed all unused media now from mine (use that little lightning bolt) so hopefully that helps too.

So I've tried everything and still can't get it to work. I'm going to try to open the file in Vegas 5.0. Maybe that'll work. Any other suggestions?

I'm currently having this problem. If you go over to the Sony support forum, you'll see that this has been going on for years and Sony has no idea how to resolve the issue.

It happens to me usually when rendering stills, and I've resized them which helps but not enough to get the render to finish. Changing codecs sometimes helps, but not always and not reliably.

I can't wait until Sony sells Vegas!

I suggest you tell us what you are actually trying to do if you want any real help. Beyond that, we can only watch as you get more frustrated.

I think my issue was the harddrive. When I think about it, it all makes sense. My footage is on an external hd. When I felt it after a render failure, it was extremely warm. I cranked on my AC and unplugged the HD, allowing it to cool. After half an hour, I fired up Vegas again and I've now been rendering for three hours with no issues. granted my apt is cold, but it's a small price to pay. At least it works now! =) Figures that it was something so trivial as overheating, seeing that I've never had the issue before because all summer I ran AC. With it now too cold to run ac, the conditions were just right to screw me up.
