A beginner's question involving a mini mixer and a laptop.

I just purchased a Nady Audio MM-242, the 4-channel mini mixer and want to connect it to my macbook pro for recording, etc. Can anyone tell me what adapters and cables would do the job and get me recording capable. Thanks.

Start by returning that thing and researching a better mixer. Sorry, sometimes the truth hurts :)

Maybe you should stop a second and define what you are trying to do.

Are you doing production recording?
Is this for post/ ADR/ Music??
What do you want to do? Answer that then get the hardware and/or software that will do what you need.
You don't want to be going into the Mac analog.

ptalsky's got that alesis setup that looks pretty nifty with FW direct into the mac. He's posted a bit about his setup with some great pics of his cart as well. But yeah noiz is right - what are you doing with this?

You might look into the Tascam FW-1082 its about $600, firewire interface, motorized faders, plenty of inputs. If you use FCP on your mac you can also use it for your CC work.

A 1082 with a DAW like Sonar or Cubase is all you need for many setup options from field recording to studio work. It will need a power source in field recording though, not battery powered.
