9.Solutions C-Pan Arm

Is anyone using this? I'm very intrigued by the flexibility of this device (especially the curvature adjustment).

The one thing that I can't wrap my head around is how to move this between shots. There is no locking device and it seems like it could pinch fingers or swing out of control like a steadicam arm without any hands on it. Even mounting this thing on a rolling combo stand, you'd still have to lift it over cables or other obstacles, and it seems like that could potentially warp the frame over time. It wouldn't take much to lose that smooth motion. I've been in touch with the company who assure me that moving it a little is fine. But I still have my doubts, and with its $2000 price tag, I need it to be a sure thing.

What do you guys think about it? Can this be used safely and effectively by a single operator on location, outside of a studio environment?

Perhaps, if the connection to the stand is secure enough. It might be close to 50lbs with the weights, a stand, and the camera. It seems like it would be problematic to have to take the stairs while carrying this. It might be kind of like a crane in that sense. Also it's hard to know if the girth of the lower section is small enough to allow the upper section to be secured with one's fingers.

What about something like these to keep the upper section secure?

You can put your shoulder under the C-pan arm and use a hand on the tripod. Do you think that would work?
