85 Watt CFL

Hi Guys

Has anyone in the UK obtained 85 Watt CFLs from backdropsource in Bucks?
I ordered two to see if they were any good as they were on sale at £12.50 +VAT.
When I came to test them the first one emmited a huge crackling sound and failed!!
On trying the second one it remains alight but produces loud cracking noises and smells of burning.
Am I the only one to have this problem?

Same thing happened to me with a similar (expensive) CFL from a familiar company. It was, unfortunately, out of warranty. If it starts crackling don't use it, the electronics inside are frying.

Lowel make a quality CFL: 80W, CRI 90+. The 220V version is part # EI-80E, the 120V model is #EI-80.
