80's style on the HVX with adapter

Heyy guys I'm working on an idea that I wanted to film in the stle of the eighties and early 90's as apposed to the flash style of today. Over stylized. How can I best emulate the film stocks I am speaking of?

yea Mike, lose the adapter you dont need it, in the 80s as you see in that clip, they didn't really make much use of dof, might as well have been shot of video, except video wasn't good enough back then. the only shots where the back grounds are at all out of focus is the ECU's to do this with the video camera, simply back away, and zoom in a bit, this is all about the lighting not the use of lenses.

Do you think ifI dull out the colors in COLOR it will match the look a bit better? Maybe some sort of noise??? How can I achieve that "Crappy" color......???

THANKS Jason....

in the example you've got there, it looked like un-diffused perfectly matched tungsten lighting. No gels or stylistic CC with lots of areas of the frame remaining unlit. Multiple shadows from different lights didn't seem to be a problem either.

There were a lot of different films from the 80s and 90s though, so the technique for emulating them could vary pretty greatly

what who said over light? undeffused doesn't mean over lite, it just means harder light with sharper shadows. if anything he's saying too underlight it.

a little desat can help, from what I recall of these types of 80s films, most of the film is some what blandly flattly lite, untill someone is about to get killed, raped, mamed, you know the goood stuff, then you're looking at some hi contrast , sharp shadows,
