8 point garbage matte misses the mark

when I click on the point button and drag it to the canvas to set a point for the matte, it activates the point an inch or so away from where I placed the +
What am I doing wrong ?? thanks

this happens if you are zoomed in. Try to set the garbage matte without anything scaled first... then adjust as needed.

I don't think I am zoomed in. I just set the screen size for 100% or 25% but, whatever, I use, it does not work.

maybe... you just THINK it's missing the mark, because you havent set all 8 points yet?

I dug this out of the archives. I am having the same exact problem. Using FCP and 8 or 4 point garbage matte zoomed in or not the point i select does not line up with where i attempt to place it. Its always a certain distance up and to the right.

My guess, now that I'm a little wiser, is to check to see that the center and the origin are set to zero.

FCP's 8 pt garbage matte is horrible. Switch to Motion- you can do the same work far far faster and easier.
