720p(n)25 import via P2

just a quick little question,

i'm editing 720p, 25fps for the first time on FCP (i'm on version 5.1.4),

we shot on an HVX202 (ie. PAL) in 720pn (ie. native progressive) and all the footage is coming in via external HDD

i've got my sequence set to HD 720p25 (there's no 720pn option, that's not really an issue right?)

as for capture settings, the closest is HD 720p24, ie. no HD 720p25

my question is: does it really matter what capture settings i'm using, since i'm importing it all via P2?

as long as i've got the right sequence, HD 720p25, it should all be sweet?

so far everything plays back fine in the HD 720p25 sequence, there's no need to render the clips when dragging them into the timeline etc.

thanks

you're fine with your P2 thinking, and timeline options for 720p25

for capture of 720p, you'll need to upgrade to FCP6.0, as it was only introduced then.

firstly, thanks for your answer.

second:

for capture of 720p, you'll need to upgrade to FCP6.0, as it was only introduced then.

EDIT: i got really confused by this at first but now i think i understand what you mean:

i'm fine to import 720p25 via P2 but i wouldn't be able to capture it, ie. via tape?

That's right with 'Import Panasonic P2'

By capture I'm meaning hooking a camera up via Firewire to a Laptop or desktop, and doing a Log and Capture from the live feed.

You can't do 720p to MiniDV tape, only SD.
