What I'm actually wondering is: What kind of TV will I want if I have an XH A1? Would the 720p be better for playing 24f? Will the 1080i interlace the 1080f signal?
edit: another question - What happens on a 1080i TV when 720p is broadcasted? Is it stretched out to fit the 1080i pixels, resulting in loss of quality?
Most ATSC compatible televisions that support 1080i also support 720p, 480p and 480i.
The terminology in "camcorder-terms" and "TV" are the same. The number represents the number of vertical lines, the subsequent letter designates it as either interlaced or progressive.
Yeah, I think you want to get a TV that can at least resolve 1080i...if possible, 1080p. Most HD broadcasts are either 720p or 1080i, but the new HD-DVD and Blu-Ray formats will go 1080p.
