720p/24pn - what sequence settings?

Imported a test clip from my p2 store (using File>Import>Panasonic P2), no problems.

According to the Item Properties, the vid rate is 23.98. I tried that as my Editing Timebase (in my sequence settings), but I still have the red render line.
I've been toying with the sequence settings, 24, 60, but my test clip still has the red render line when I drop it on the timeline.

What are the correct sequence settings for a 24pn timeline?

Who else is using the HVX and FCP? Any other threads and articles on HVX and FCP workflow are appreciated [I did try a search in this forum, but "HVX" and "P2" are too short for search terms].

(1) You might want to consider getting and using Barry Green's HVX book. That may help quite a bit. I think there is a volume two due out in the reasonably soon future and that should incorporate the new FCP 5.1.2 P2 capture window too.

(2) As for your specific problem, I would delete all my sequences. Then use the DVCPro HD 720p24 Easy Setup. Then create a new sequence AFTER applying the Easy Setup. If there is any small setting that is off the Easy Setup will align it to make FCP happy again.

Alternatively, delete the existing sequences, then create a new one. Before cutting anything onto it, open up the Sequence Settings. Then click on the Load Preset button. Then from there load the DVCPro HD 720p24 preset. This too ought to align things nicely for FCP (and won't muddle with other settings that the Easy Setup will, which may or may not be a problem for you depending upon your setup). Good luck.

cheers.

EDIT: Thanks, VaricamLife. I'm in business now.

My HVX Barry book is on the way. I wish Panny would just put it in the box!
