I just wrapped production on my first (micro-budget) feature film. We shot on the HVX using an FS-100 to capture our 720p 24p footage. We decided against 1080i
to avoid too many post production headaches, but now I've got one anyway.
Because the FS-100 does not (or at least did not while we were in production) support native frame rates, all our footage is technically 60p (whether we were shooting at 60p or 24p). In other words, I'm forced to edit in a 59.94 based timeline. Not only does that seem like a big waste of processing power, but when I tested exporting in true 24p, FCP seemed to not always grab the right frames, and some of the shots looked almost like 12p.
So I guess the question is: How and when do I correct this problem? Do I somehow convert all my footage now? Or wait until the final stages, depending on what the final medium is?
Thanks
