720 x 480 vs. 640 x 480

I'm going to be shooting a project next week with a Canon XL2 as the main camera. As backup, a friend is going to be using his Canon EOS Rebel T2I photo camera, and will be shooting in SD 640 x 480 with it. Will I have any problem editing the footage from these two together in the same time line? Thanks in advance guys.

standard def ntsc that comes off the XL2 is 720x480 rectangular pixels

t2i shoots square pixels

720x480 ntsc when converted to square pixels is 640x480

So just be careful with your timelines. If it were me in the edit bay I would convert all the XL2 ntsc to 640x480 square pixels

Thanks for your reply! I've actually never converted 720 x 480 to square. Is it possible to do the same operation, just the other way? (640 x 480 to 720 x 480)?

Generally speaking though, I don't need to go through the process of renting another XL2, do I, as this should be fine regardless? Also if anyone can comment on the Rebel T2I's SD video quality if they've experienced it ever (equivalent to 3 chip DV cams?)

Thanks again
