720 to 1080

Take it to a post house that has a hardware converter such as one from Teranex. When going from HD to HD the commonly used term is 'cross-conversion'. Up-conversion is going from SD to HD.

you said "flawless" and "film transfer" which made adkimery give you the answer that corresponds with those. A Teranex is the professional way to do it.

if you want to do it yourself, throw the clips in compressor and uprez it with frame controls on (set to better or best) and make 1080p ProRes files.

A better way would be to take your 720p 23.98 file to a post house with a Kona 3. The Kona 3 does this upconvert upon output...I have done it myself very often. The MXO2 now does this as well, as does the new Kona LHi. So if ALL of your footage is 720p, then either output that 720p to tape, then upconvert via Terranex. Or export a self contained QT movie as 720p, and take that to a place that has a Kona 3.
