720 PHD for Youtube

So I have some shorts I shot on the HVX200 at 720PN and I'm looking to upload them to the web.

I searched the forum, but I can't seem to find the right settings to letterbox my footage to 4X3 using Final Cut Pro.

I tried clicking the "letterbox" option but damned if it still stretched out my 16 by 9 to 4 by 3.

I also tried dragging the footage to a 4 by 3 clip but it still doesn't perfectly letter box the thing. Theres black bars on the sides as well.

any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
 
my memory is foggy but i had some 16x9 footage that i re-sized in FCP and also used the distort tool, if that didn't do the trick i would add a little bit of crop. lazy man's way, but try and see if it works :)
