.6X Wide Angle Adapter by Century.

I recently purchased the .6X adapter for my DVX100. Since it is a fairly expensive piece of glass, I wanted to protect it with a UV filter. Purchased a Hoya 95mm UV filter. Not too surprising, it vignetted. But what was surprising was that it would not screw on the front of the adpater! If I could have gotten it screwed on all the way, perhaps it wouldn't have vignetted so much. I wonder why Century puts threads on their adapter (calls the adapter front diameter 95mm in the spec sheet)? I also looking for an inexpensive lens hood/shade for the adapter (not the $400 matte box--I know about that one). Anybody else with the .6X adapter found a solution. By the way, I've already emailed Century with my concerns.

Thanks.

Re: .6X Wide Angle Adapter by Century.

The threads on the adapter are not for adding filters. They are a manufacturing artifact from the process of making the lens (I guess the optical element screws into it or something?) Anyway, the guy at Century told me in no uncertain terms that the threads are not usable, they are a nonstandard size and/or pitch, and there's nothing out there that screws into them.

Thanks for the quick answer.

Since those threads are not really usable, I guess I'll have to think of some other way to protect the adapter. Any ideas--anyone?

Maybe a Series 9 with a clamp-on ring? Or an optical flat in a 6x6 mattebox. I don't know...
