63m and 83m minidv tapes?

Any advantages/disadvantages between using Panasonic 63m and 83m tapes, other than getting an extra 20minutes of recording time. Quality, tape slack, etc?

With the 83 min tapes, the tape is physically thinner so that they can cram more tape into the same sized case. There's a possibility of the tape getting jammed in the head assembly. I'd play it safe and stick to the 63min tapes the DVX manual recommends.

Even though Panasonic manufactures 83 minute tapes, they recommend in the DVX manual that you not use them in a DVX.

The 83 minute tapes are also hit and miss in terms of what will play and record on them. They record and playback fine in the GL2's at work, but they won't budge in the JVC SR-VS30 miniDV deck...error after error.
