Hello everyone,

In the past few months I've been gearing up to make a horror movie using a 100B. The only problem is i'm the worst procrastinator that has ever sat and done nothing on the earth. I think i waste at least 6 hours a day on the internet shi*ting around and doing nothing. Alot is spent here. i can't say that is a waste because alot of people here have very good things to say...and everyone is as helpful with problems than you could ever hope for. I genuinly love this place.

However...it has become a problem because i cant get anything done on the movie. I've gone through only 2 drafts of the script....weve started shooting and i dont plan enough so on set things so far have tended to be a disaster as you could expect. Actors are unhappy.....the crew doenst really know what they are doing because I dont know what i'm doing. ..........a mess..

And the sad thing is....i know this. I know things will go badly if i dont plan and think of every detail ahead of time but i dont do anythihng about it. Im a lazy bastard. I read "rebel without a crew" and get all inspired. RR says all you need to do is work hard and with a little talent to boot you'll make it. Theres no way around it...thats what every successful person will tell you. And its true....if you honestly give 100 percent all the time you WILL make it. I know i can...i've got it in me...but i hold myself back by being unorganized and with a lack of willpower to get myself moving.

The first thing that goes has to be my worthless hours on the computer....i'm a slave to it. I know this is a topic brought up before by some people....having themselves banned for periods of time by mr hudson. I'm going to try to do it through willpower. I'm not coming back until i have a movie in the can...

I do feel stupid typing any of this though....i mean who am i to even "announce" such a departure. I'm not anyone special here.....and i dont deserve to be...ive not really contributed much to the community....about 350 or so worthless comments for the most part. I really dont know why i'm announcing this....just for the heck of it i suppose...

Alright...sorry to bother everyone with that...felt like telling someone..... I'm still in for the horror fest but not till this other thing is done first.

ok...best wishes all and have a nice couple months.

EDIT:

Well an update..

Hey thanks for all the support all. Unfortunately the whole film didnt quite work out. I will admit temporarily cutting out the internet did help...it was just a bit too late in the game to make a significant change in the overall production. A few important actors had to leave to back to school sooner than expected. This was the main reason for not continuing the project. Overall everything we did shoot I am happy with. If its something people still want to do I guess there is always a chance of finishing it next summer.

Anyway thanks again for the kind words. I failed to do what I said ...as in not coming back until I had a finished feature....but then again I have learned from the expirience...

We are all guilty. But do what you have to do. And don't EVER think that you're not a part of this community. It takes a village to raise a DVXuser and you're one of the village people. :)

And you having that little blue man logo in your sig has contributed A LOT, to many people! So don't down play your presence on this forum. Now snap out of it and go do what you must do. But don't forget about us.

By the way, don't expect a lot of responses to this thread since it is only named "." . It's difficult to see the thread, much less click it. :)

Heh heh... that was one of Pookie's favorite thread titles to use here.

Weston,

You need a work plan, with time table, results, mile stones and check points.
Most of us can't do it by ourselves, Get your self a "Buddy" that will monitor your progress and remind you of your commitment. This persons only commitment to you is remind you of your plans and the results you want to achieve.

Ask for someone from this community to take the job, In return you will support him with his project, whatever it is.

If you will finish your movie on time, and enter it to the contest, You will win a special reward from me. "The breakthrough reward"

Good Luck.

Not to sound to Dr.Phil, but it sounds like your going through the fear of failure thing. I've seen some of my mates self-sabotage over that too. What you have to realize is that ALL success is preceded by a series of failures.

As Samuel Beckett once said (paraphrasing) "Fail. Fail again. Fail better"

Your probably not even reading this since you're on sabbatical, but on good luck making your movie. And
let your mates know (who are making the flick with you) that you're all there to make the collective skill set rise, and you'll all benefit from learning the ropes together.

What you got to do is grab this project by the shoulders, and throw it to the floor, and hump it into submission... only then will you be a true filmmaker!

Weston,
I'll take the job, PM me sometime. We both live in ohio and maybe we could hash something out.

I feel for you man, I really do. I am Bi-polar, an illness that makes me sader than at a funeral if I achieve something great and happy when others are down on their luck.
It makes for an incredible tool of procrastination when everything worthwhile seems to hurt and everything you do to be happy hurts others. Don't give up man, but dont set the bar so High that it destines you to fail.
You probably had an awakening, a moment where you realized that things were going nowhere fast and you'd like to cram everything you couldve done before into one session. It's a formula for disaster if your resolution cant handle the downside.

I always dreamed of a famous director just coming up to me and telling me, "hey, your just what I was looking for!"... this thought process kept me from doing anything at all, even getting a palmcorder.
I'm 26 years old, and this past february I was invited to a Steven Spielburg protoge's movie set. He is 28. When i got there, he came up to me and asked me,"so your a filmaker right?" And all i said in the midst of this 30 million dollar production was, "i'd like to be." And thats when my awakening came. I had nothing to offer, so he didnt say that I was just what he had been looking for.

Good luck either way man, but if you'd like - I'm always here. We all are, that's what makes this community great.
