Hey all,
I purchased Magic Bullet Suite 2007 a few months ago... and just now have been trying out Frames that came with it.
(for info Im shooting with an FX1 in 1080i running Premiere Pro 2.0, and I also have AE 7.0 with all the MB installed there too)
Anyway, I tried shooting a short interlaced clip (29.97 60i) and then I took that clip, applied the Frames plugin on to it, selected NTSC 24p deinterlace...then exported to DVD to check it out.
Looked great.
Now comes my question...
What I understand is that it takes the 60i clip, somehow changes it to a 24p clip WITH a pulldown. Its not a straight 24p clip. In order to get real 24p video (23.976) you'd have to capture then import that untouched video to something like After Effects, then go to Interpret Footage, select Guess 3:2 pulldown, THEN add to you render queue, and your exported clip will be a true 24p clip.
Now, This only seems to work on single clips, which then you'd have to edit on a 24p timeline since it seems it only can guess the pulldown on single clips....since a whole editing video, it wouldn't be constant... and thus you'd lose some there..
Am I right so far?
With this info that I have... I'm guessing its not possible to get a true pulldown removal from 60i video AFTER its been edited.. like you could do if you let's say shot with a DVX in 24pA?
It seems you CAN do the pulldown removal no matter what... its just that the best result is to do the pulldown removal right after capture? I'm just having trouble realizing what goes wrong with the computer can't correctly guess the pulldown to remove it.
This is what I want to do... I want to shoot everything at 60i (1080i) so I can have the option of leaving the footage interlaced OR convert it to 24p (with pulldown) if I want it too look that way...(and thats fine if going to DVD or whatever) BUT what if my movie is already edited, having applied Frames, and need to go out to actual film...for a transfer... what's the best way of removing the pulldown after the edit?
Has anyone here been using Frames? How does that plug in do it right on the timeline... I've google'd this product and can't really find any answers that I understand.
