60i and 24p on same timeline?

I am editing a graduation, which is about an hour and 45 min. One guy used his little panasonic miniDV cam (60i) and I shot with my DVX in 24pA (I am using the footage for a documentary about the school, that's why). It seemed as though it came out fine, seeing the two "looks," while editing. But, i am seeing interlaced lines in preview, and I was not able to render the entire project as a 24p DVD template. I realized what a stupid error I committed after the project was finished. It rendered about 80% of it before stopping and saying there was an "error" that could not be explained. I tried to burn a dual layer DVD in architect but it also stopped early. Can I edit the project with both formats, or do I have to render the 60i footage to 24p first? SOL, please help ASAP. Thanks.

You should be able to edit both on a 24p timeline and render as 24p, but if you want to keep the look of the 60i, then you should edit in 60i and export as MPEG-2 using of the DVD Architect NTSC DV templates (standard or widescreen). You wouldn't want to make a 24p DVD.

You will see interlacing on your computer screen, but not on a standard TV.

Okay, thanks. Let me just make sure I understand. If I shot 24pA, as well as 60i, I should edit on a 24p timeline, then render for DVD using the mpeg-2 24p template? I don't care as much about keeping or losing the 60i look, just whatever is easier and will give Vegas less reason to give me problems, as it has. Again, I edited it together, about 1:45:00, then rendered for the first time as a 24p DVD after it was complete, but it wouldn't finish rendering. I still need to troubleshoot that. And as far as the last comment, does that apply to both types of DVD renders?
