60 footcandles equals?

I was just reading up on some small LED light panels on

www.litepanels.com


they say in the specs section they produce a bright 60 footcandles at about 2 feet away. Just how bright is that?

Well, it's hard to know for sure because LED's have very quick dropoff. I'd expect somewhere around a 10w tungsten lamp equivalent, but it's hard to classify because the tungsten light will be throwing a lot more light further out.

It'd be more useful and "illuminating" if they'd show a photometrics chart that demonstrates the FC at various distances.

Its like a 20watt tungsten with a full sheet of opal.. meaning as barry said soft with a short throw.

These lights are not worth it. They are too expensive and don't make enough light per watt compared to incandescents.
