I "became" a DP 6 years, 1 month, 3 days ago.

I joined DVXuser because i was going to buy a DVX100 for a music video that i had been hired to shoot.

Wait lemme, back up a bit.

I was a Video artist in college, and one of my videos was well received in school. i showed it to a friend, and he insisted is shoot a music video for his barber Jose. Ahh yes. Thats how i got my big break. Jose the barber needed a music Video. Never the less he was going to pay me to do it. So i joined DVXuser on that day to research what camera to use... Obviously i used a DVX100...

I have killed in my Career as a DOP:
1x Sony VX1000 ( fell off a ladder)
1x DVX100, on a shoot used a head cleaner that chewed up the video heads.
1x HVX200, Crushed in a jib on a job.
4x SGpro/Blade 35mm Adapters. ( i used the hell out of em)
1x Go35 pro 35 adapter
3-4x CAnon FD lenses

I have Created in my career:
30x music Videos
18x Short Films
200+ corporate Videos
3 seasons of TV programing
1 feature film (and more on the way)

I learned how to do all of this through the friends and contacts ive made on DVXuser. This was, and still is my Film School. DVX-University. Without this place i would not have a fulfilling career, and grand old time just reading what all of you hysterically funny, passionate and brilliantly creative people have written over the years.

Much love to all of you.

Oh yea... heres that VERY first music Video.... Dont judge me.... ;)

LOL. Hey, we all have to start somewhere. I wish my career was as tight as yours. The fact you got to do 3 seasons of TV programming is cool in itself. I came here for the same reason you did, to learn about the DVX and I ended up staying. It's the only forum I've been completely active on for this long.

Timur, sounds like you've had an amazing career! Thanks for being a part of DVXuser and giving back to the community that helped you once upon a time....

And stop killing cameras! You must be pretty good if you kept getting hired after all that

Great story. I think DVXuser has 'launched" a lot of careers.

Your work always inspires and I'm honored that one of those short films was mine.

All hail Timur the Great, slayer of cameras!

That was a great read.

And those six years are prologue.

Great post! Congrats & continued success. I personally like reading your posts as
