I've gotten so much information from dvxuser and I want to contribute my lens testing and comparison footage to the community.

This is a pretty simple lens comparison done on the HVX200a with an SGBlade 35mm adapter and a set of 6 pentax k-mount lenses. In addition there's a bit on white balancing and an example of a non-spinning ground glass. There is also some footage with a lens enhancer and circular polarizer.

Lenses Tested-
24mm 2.8
40-80mm Zoom 2.8
50mm 2
50mm 1.7
80-200mm Zoom 4.5
200mm 1.4

I hope this helps somebody. I'll also post in the cinematography section.

Not to put you down or anything but pretty much all of the footage looks very soft, like it wasn't correctly focused. Of course Youtube isn't an ideal place for critical evaluation anyway. Best way would be to post full resolution bitmap or at least a decently compressed full-sized jpeg.

Your right, I think the picture is so busy and so deep theres just too much in view thats not in focus at any given time. Specifically with the larger lenses, your seeing a whole backyard thats 100 feet long with tree branches that stretch 10 feet both directions. The depth is shallow so I'm only getting maybe 12 feet in focus of that 100.

For the sake of continuity I couldn't frame the shots differently. If I could redo, I'd pick a smaller and relatively flat image to be the center of attention. This was like looking parallel down a row of lockers and seeing the majority of out of focus view area.

You can compare the difference in frames up the ladder and see how the image differs with the lens enhancer and polarizer though.
